Lunch Dates

So I was pretty busy in June but July has been a slow month. But this week I have been mildly social :) On Tuesday I met up with a good friend who was going through the DFW area and had breakfast with her and her boyfriend. It was fun we sat and talked for a long time after eating. I love her boyfriend he is perfect for her, fun and seems like a great guy! I had to drive over to Arlington for that so afterward I went and used Jason's parent's pool :) His mom came and layed out with me and that was fun! She came out after 45 minutes and we stayed out there for 2 more hours! Pretty awesome!

Then yesterday I went to lunch with my roommate and hung out for a bit and today I am going to lunch with Ryan! I seriously haven't seen him in over a year at least and we live in the same stinkin' place!

The Burial

So, Ferdinand's burial was less than glamorous. We discussed making a grave stone and such but such grand gestures were soon forgotten. He layed in his watery grave for two days awaiting a proper burial that never came. We dumped him behind some bushed and covered him with rocks....may he rest in peace.

Oh Edinburugh.....

So a couple months ago I got a fish, he is a betta and his name is Edinburugh. He is a VERY good fish with a LOT of personality! I put off getting a fish for many years because my last fish, Gilbert, may he rest in peace, died in a tragic water changing accident. It scarred me and hardened my heart, but this year I was convinced to get another :). Some days...I slip up and call Edinburugh...Gilbert...but he forgives me and understands.
Anyway, I was at the pet store buying him fresh plants because he LOVES to lay on there leaves and hide behind them... and there before my eyes I saw the most beautiful snail in the world! His name...Ferdinand. I bought Ferdinand, brought him home and introduced him to his new friend...Edinburugh. Now Ed, as we sometimes call him, was curious swam around him on the ground and then went on about his business. Ferdinand loved his new home and climbed up and down plants and across all the rocks and then the trouble started....
.......he climbed the wall.

OH my did Edinburugh dislike this! All the sudden out of the corner of Ed's eye he saw Ferdinand, half way up the tanks wall and he FLIPPED! He charged poor Ferdinand and puffed up at him, snipped at his shell, then swam violently in circles....We figured Ed would get use to him and chill out. WELL, 3 hours later he was still flipping out...he would forget then the whole cycle would start ALL OVER again.

So, after much debate and research, me and Jason took Ferdinand out of the tank. You see, Betta's can die from stress and Ferdinand was causing A LOT of stress. So, I set up a mini tank for Ferdinand to chill in till I could buy a plant for him the next day. Sigh...apparently snails can't live a day without a plant (you know that whole oxygen thing)...so above you see the first and only picture of Ferdinand: you were a great snail with spunk, may you rest in peace slugger!

The pic isn't great cause I was trying to get the two of them together but Ed would not cooperate! Ferdinand is on the plant right below Ed!

A time to blog...

So, during the year when there are decently interesting things happening I don't have time to blog :)  Now it is summer and I have PLENTY of time but not PLENTY of stories!  I was suppose to work at my old job this week but they are really slow so it doesn't look like that is going to be happening.

So :) today I got to be a bum and loved it!  I got up too early out of habit, cooked eggs and turkey pastrami, made cookies and brownies for VBS, talked to my roommate who came home, bought tickets for the rangers game, showered :), returned a DVD, exchanged my blue ray for one that worked, went to Market Street for dinner food, remember I forgot to eat lunch, did some laundry, started to fold laundry, bake more cookies for VBS, made bruschetta, made tortellini, ate with Jason, made blue berry muffins for tomorrow, sat down and watched the Rangers!, and finally....blogged.  Oh how exciting :)

It seems my $1000 dollar winnings are popular in my life...everyone thinks I should visit them  now ;)  I do want to visit you :)

And the winner is.....

Wow, has it ever been a long week!  It was last week of school and I was still trying to see kids and finish up counseling!  I was at the office till late Thursday and Friday and crashed into bed when I got home!  OF COURSE, I awoke at 7:30 the next morning!  You can never sleep in when you want to!   BUT, I happen to love mornings and it makes the day longer.

So, Jason came over and we went to Le Madeleine's for breakfast and had a egg crepe champignon with a garlic herb mushroom sauce!  yum!  My parents got back in town Friday night so we drove over to see them and bug them!

And now the interesting part!  We like to drive around cause we are cool like that :)  So we drove up 75 to Oklahoma where we decided to go into Choctaw (a little casino) and mess around.  We went into the penny room with $20.  We have gone once or twice before and we always walk out even!  We don't stay very long just goof off a bit.  Anyway, I put a $1 into a machine and made a couple of penny bets and then made a little higher of a bet....60 cents!  So I hit bet and the machine started spinning and then it kept spinning a whole bunch and the "credits won" number kept going up.  I sat there for about 3 minutes trying to figure out what was going on!  I was like.."no way did I just win!" so I asked the lady next to me and she said..."You have just won $1052!  That's more than the jackpot!"  I don't know what I did, but I won $1000 dollars yesterday!

As you can imagine, I stopped :)  I am so excited because it's not like we go in to win money, we were just being dorks!  I am so excited because I just had to buy a new TV and now I just payed for most of it!!!! :)

Okay, so then we went to this new Steak/Seafood place with my parents for dinner called Nate's!  AND I got a lobster....a WHOLE lobster!  They were on sale and it was the LAST one, so I had to have it :)  I have never had a whole lobster before!  It was quite a wrestle but it was a fun meal!  Then we went and took my dad to what he calls "a courtesy see" and saw Star Trek for the 3rd time!

P for Pepto!

Here I sit, hanging out with my bottle of pepto...I was trying to feel better for church, but seriously I am barely making it threw the days!  I do not know WHAT is up with my stomach but it is angry...very angry about something.  So, I am drinking lots of Pepto MAX to try to make it happy again!   yummm. :)

Oops!

Oops!  I guess it has been two weeks since I last posted....oh how the end of the school year flies by!  I am just trying to get to the end!  It is sad because my first week off I am actually working at my old job.  I am covering for a girl I use to work with.  What is even sadder is that I am excited for the  "break" from kids at school...knowing my luck one of them will get admitted.  Oh, my old job was at a psychiatric hospital!

So, I am just waiting for the end of the week!  I actually have a ton to do but I have been fighting off this stomach bug thing that makes feel like poop!

I don't really have much left to say for now.  I will try to think of interesting stories and take pictures to go along with them.  Until then...I think I am going to take a pre-bed time nap!

Change of Plans

So, today was much different than I planned!  Plans to the herb festival were cancelled due to rain ALL day long!  So of course we decided going to the Ranger's game would be a much better alternate :)  The news said the rain should be gone by then....but it was a tad bit wrong!  The game was delayed an hour and a half!  So, we sat in a super cool Texas Rangers Pancho in my new Texas Ranger's hat in the rain for an hour!  But surprisingly it was fun!  :)  AND THEY WON!!!! I have never been to a game where they win!  I LOVE Josh Hamilton and Ian Kinsler!  Kinsler pulls up his socks to his knees over his pants like in the olden days and I LOVE it!!

Oh and the best part of all!!!!! I got a free Josh Hamilton bobble head doll!!!!!  We got there at 2:00 to make sure we got them...and the game didn't end up starting till 4:30!  All in all, a very good day!

HD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So yesterday I had plans to go out with Jason and some of his friends from work.  There was a going away party for one of his good friends and I am friends with his wife, so...I went :)  But, I decided I would go get my nails done because hey, I was meeting most of these people for the first time and you know they would be staring at my nails!  I mean who wouldn't! :)

So, I decided to go the beauty college where you can get your nails done for 5 BUCKS!  That is awesome!  You can do french tip or anything for just 5 bucks and any idiot can slap some paint on your nails!  I mean they have been in school for 2 months before they can touch anyone...surely the can decently paint and file your nails...right???!!!

Well, I am sure you saw it coming, but NO NO!!!! Not just ANY idiot can paint your nails!  It takes a special kind of idiot apparently!  Seriously, my nails looked like mountain ranges when I left!  I felt so bad for her!  I went straight home and took off the nail polish and re-filed my nails!  My nails looked better going in than when I left!  But on the up side I had a great conversation with her :)  Sigh

Well, tonight I got my HD installed and my huge 50" TV is now even more beautiful!

50"

Okay, so after some research I have discovered that it would cost a lot to repair my television and apparently would be very dangerous! Sooooooooo, I bought a new TV!!!!! I didn't want to spend the money, but I am so incredibly excited about it! I got a 50" Panasonic Plasma! It isn't going to be delivered till Sunday and I can hardly wait! I know it sounds huge...and that is because it is! I got a REALLY good deal on it!

I went into Best Buy and it just so happened that the first guy I talked to was the general manager! I negotiated my deal at Best Buy, got like $450 off the TV, 50% off a Blue Ray player and a discount on all the needed plugs! It was the funnest experience I have ever had and I totally rocked it making deals!

The TV Saga Continues

So my roommates boyfried told her it is real easy to replace a blown out fuse in a TV......................

Let me tell you, it is not! I unscrewed a bagillion screws to take off the back of my TV, I then thoroughly examined everything...trying to find a fuse! (Oh, I dropped by a TV repair shop and they gave me a fuse for free, score!) Well, 45 minutes, 4 more screws, and a tiny key flash light later....I found the fuse! Oh, don't get too excited, it was well fortified behind what looked like a electrical motherboard castle! I tried every angle to reach this little glass tube and somehow while I was finagling myself around the TV I cut my foot! OUCH!!! So, I limped out of the room defeated.

The difference between Power Strips and Surge Protectors

So, maybe I am having a blonde moment, maybe I am not as technologically smart as I would like to think...but I did NOT know there is a difference between power strips and surge protectors. I bet you are wondering "how did you come to this discovery??"

Well, I was watching TV during a thunderstorm Saturday night. And yes, there is no build to this story, my TV blew out. My TV I bough THREE...count them 1, 2, 3 years ago is now dead. And in case you haven't been TV shopping in a while....you have to drop about a grand to get something decent.

SOoooooo, Tivo will have to wait...Private Practice will have to wait....BIGGEST LOSER and American Idol will have to wait...till I can find a stinkin' TV.

Meep Meep!

Yah, this is from last week...bare with me :)

So today was nothing short of eventful! I was running a little late to work today and I decided to stop and get bagels….because if you bring food, EVERYTHING is forgivable! Before I begin this story, let me give you a little background information. I am a Special Education Counselor for a school district and I see 1st-8th graders along with JDC and Boot Camp kids, SO I office at the Special Ed offices. Well, our office is at an old school and MY office is in the band hall so we have to walk outside under a “covered” area to get to our offices.

Back to the bagels. I was setting up the bagel fixins and I heard a tapping on the door (people often forget their keys) so I went to open the door when our secretary said “It’s a road runner!” And sure enough I looked out the glass and a crazy little road runner had a big rock in his mouth and he was just a tappin’ away! I got so excited I jumped up and down and he ran off down the way! I ran out the door to watch him run around all confused like…it was great! So, today, a road runner knocked on my door…and I answered it!

Next! So apparently we are having a monsoon today! When it rains our lovely walk way turns into a little “river” if you will. So I have had much excitement today….my shoes and jeans are soaked so I changed into some flip flops and I proudly squeaked around my office ALL day long!

Oh, I forgot to mention that we have state testing ALLLLLL week long so I am trapped in the office. Due to this we have all gotten a bit stir crazy…so we have to entertain ourselves….or more so I have to entertain us J So we have this HUGE field around us where another much larger river has formed…and yes, I AM a child and I made a sail boat! It is pretty great, I am not going to lie! I even put a little snowman in it left over from Christmas and he floated around in our little river!

Friday Friday Friday!

So it is Friday and I am SOOOO glad! This has been the longest, least productive week EVER! I think I have senioritis...which is really unfortunate because I am not a senior and I am not finished with high school kids forever!

So this weekend should be decently entertaining. I am going out with Jason, his friend, and his friend's wife...well we are "going out". We are trying to save money so we are going to be lame and....brace yourself....play...BOARD GAMES!!! I am pretty excited but I am not going to admit it! I love doing dorky stuff like that! So there is my exciting weekend for you!

If the weather is nice tomorrow I think I am going to try and convince Jason to go to the Jazz festival in Denton! It shouldn't be too hard cause it is right up his ally! Later!

My First....

Well, this isn't my first blog...it is my second.  I had this awesome blog in grad school and it turned into something I called "The stalker diary" and after I lost my stalker I just couldn't top myself!  So, I tried to keep it up, but then I graduated...and to be honest, I only blogged in avoidance of writing papers...which is ironic...cause I was avoiding writing by writing.  But, I distract myself!

SO, I am starting this blog for Jessica because I told her I would.  I am trying something new out here and I am calling myself "Becca" on the blog.  This is different cause I have never introduced myself this way and I am not quite sure how I feel about it yet....we will just have to wait and see.  So, here is to the start of my blog!
